A passport bro is a man who travels or relocates to date or marry abroad, usually from a wealthier country to a poorer one. The label names the man. It says nothing about the numbers where he lands.
Where the term came from
Spread through US social media, mainstream news coverage in 2023. The same two words are used as a self-label and as criticism.
No agreed definition: some mean a two-week trip, some mean marriage and a residence visa. It names no country, no age band and no number.
Passport bro and geomaxxing are not the same word
Passport bro names a person. Geomaxxing names the move: relocating to a dating market where your existing traits are locally scarcer, and so valued more. One is an identity. The other is a decision, and a decision can be checked against census counts, cost and visa access.
